The Power of Introverts by @SusanCain
“In a culture where being social and outgoing are prized above all else, it can be difficult, even shameful, to be an introvert. But, as Susan Cain argues in this passionate talk, introverts bring extraordinary talents and abilities to the world, and should be encouraged and celebrated.”

I may have had varying results whenever I took the Myers-Briggs (Personality) Type Indicator [MBTI], switching between sensing & intuiting, thinking & feeling, and judging & perceiving, but one unchanging quality was my introversion.
Call me weird for my preference quiet, solitude, or the occasional reclusion even. Weird is good.

@RobCham says dang alot.
And yay! I saw him at the launch too.
Hope to read and write a review about this soon. :)
Today was the book launch for Unscripted by Sarah Meier and Vicky Herrera. I hold in my hands my copy of the dang thing, and I look stupid. I took the slipcover off because I dig the inside cover more. It looks so dang classy.
Create.ph (the place I work at) designed it, and it is our first book. (Yay) It collects various interviews that Vicky and Sarah did on their radio show, the Dollhouse, and features many Philippine icons such as Jim Paredes, Raimund Marasigan, Lourd De Veyra, and Carlos Celdran among others.
And now for my totally honest mini-review of it because I will not try and sell it to you and somewhat want to share what I think of it minus the bias of we made the dang thing.
Things that surprised me about this book even if I spend some time working on the pages in it (not much really. Just small illustrations and some editing) with CSJ and Kasey:
- How nice it looks. Fully Booked/Sketchbook Inc. had some really nice production value go into it. It’s glossy, all the inside art and book cover look amazing, and it’s in a very nice slipcover.
- The content. I dug reading it. A lot of the interviews were not what I thought they would be. There’s some depth there. Personal favorites would have to be Lourd’s and Jeannie Goulbourn.
- How nice the design is. Kasey and CSJ just made the damn thing look so good. Each interview is done in its own style so it’s a bit of a page turner looking at all the aesthetic changes done and the design that was put into it. The look suits each interviewee such as Raimund Marasigan’s which is insane. Lourd’s is even more insane.
That’s about it.
Negative points would be how short each interview feels at 8 pages for each person, but it is a thick book to read. (I somewhat read through the dummy copy we had in our studio and the PDF copies before the dang thing got printed, so this is somewhat an advanced review? Dang it, I sound like some guy who knows what he is talking about. I don’t.)
So pick it up. It’s available at every Fully Booked for Php 999. It’s a nice Christmas gift to people who happened to listen in to their show back when it was on the air, but also if you happen to be a fan of any of the people who were interviewed in the book. I didn’t know half of the people on it but found them to be somewhat really amazing people and getting to know how they think gets you inspired and what not.
Ignore me now. I feel bad for trying to sell it to you, but dang it if it isn’t a fine example of book making here in the Philippines that isn’t joke books or horror stories.

GENIUS! *clap clap*
Just admiring though. Not really looking for book cases because I am looking forward to my #Kindle!
Read The 4-Hour Workweek over a year ago, but it’s not really ‘til now that I’m taking more pro-active steps to achieve it. :P
