Capture The Colour: A Travel Photo Blog Competition
It was fun looking through old travel photos and reminisce and see how my photography varied with the different cameras I used throughout the years in an attempt to find suitable entries to the Capture The Colour contest. :)
BLUE

[Taken with my LX5 in August 2012 at the Ock Pop Tok / Fiber2Fabric Gallery in Luang Prabang, Laos]
Once in a while, I’ve come across an admirable brand or company on this trip through Cambodia, Thailand & Laos (so far), but none has left as indelible an impression as Ock Pop Tok, a progressive and principled textile-weaving company in Luang Prabang.
GREEN

[Taken with my Black Slim Devil and Provia film in February 2010 of water lilies outside the walled city of Intramuros in Manila, Philippines, a site / city often neglected by travelers, but definitely worthy of your time, especially if you go on an animated tour with Carlos Celdran.]
YELLOW

[Taken with my LX5 in August 2012 at Vientiane, Laos at a buddhist temple]
WHITE

[Taken with my departed Nikon D80 in June 2010 at the peak of Mt. Pulag in Benguet, Philippines]
RED

[Taken with my Black Slim Devil and Velvia film in July 2010 at the railway station of Osaka, Japan]

Battambang, Cambodia: Picturesque in its Decrepitude
I love places that look old, worn, and beat up, and Battambang is just that kind of town. I haven’t taken so many pictures of a place as I have in one afternoon’s stroll through the streets of peeling buildings with battered wooden shutters in Battambang, Cambodia. :)
Life-saving Free Batch Photo Watermarker for Mac & Windows
Dear friends, family and followers,
I apologize for the delay in my travel posts. Blame it on the tediousness of watermarking photos on Photoshop and my refusal to post un-watermarked photos for fear of misuse without giving credit where it is due, not that all my photos are fabulous, but still, I think some of them are. :D
Enter: Star Watermark, the savior that will now allow me to post entries more or less when they happen, without allowing so much backlog to pile up, without letting me waste so much of my life watermarking by myself and saving each new photo with a new name.
Great tool for mac-based bloggers (other available tools weren’t Mac-friendly) - fast and easy to use, highly recommended. No excuse to let your photos be stolen without reference by someone else now. :P
Prepare for a barrage of backlog posts. :)
Huzzah!

I told myself I didn’t want another camera because I haven’t really been using my cameras lately, and when Karlo said there were new Superheadz cams, I wasn’t really too excited. But when I clicked the link he sent…AGH! Perfect for the technomad!
Shoot, plug and play! Takes photos and videos! GAH!!
Only slightly bigger than a thumbdriiiiive!

Some bits reminded me of the long, solitary walks I had in the older parts of Shanghai back when I stayed there for 5 months of Mandarin classes in 2007.
Other bits reminded me of Binondo - a popular Chinatown in Manila, Philippines.
Or just some other beautifully worn down parts of my own city, Manila, but have always been on wheels and too busy or in too much of a hurry to really notice things.
Battambang is one of those small towns that really encourage you to slow down, stop and smell not roses, but an occasional stink, but is alive with stories behind crackled paint and decaying “shabby chic” (sans the chic) windows and doors.
View more pictures from my aimless wandering through Battambang streets.See what else I did in Battambang here.
