Come join us for a garage sale for travelers, by travelers on:
October 6, 2012 (Saturday), 11AM-6PM
Venue: Moonleaf Tea Shop, Maginhawa Street, Teachers’ Village
Organized by yours truly (as a result of brokeness from my 2.5-month solo trip around Asia, and prevention from falling into debt after my Dumaguete-Bacolod and India trips this October), this Travelers’ Garage Sale gathers together 5 traveler-bloggers, Nomad Manager, Wanderrgirl, Thysz, Walking Lens Cap, All Things Artspiring, on a noble quest to fulfill our passion for travel, while providing you with lots of cheap options for clothes, books, bags, cameras, film, suitcases, and other things you might find useful for your travels as well. :)
Here’s just some of the items I’ll be selling.
BUT WAIT, there’s more! :D
Proclaimed as the country’s biggest art show on their event page, BLOOM might truly be one of the most significant markers or contemporary art among today’s younger generation, with some 80-90 artists participating in the multi-media exhibit.
Set on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Cubao X, this event promises to revive the art scene and youthful and idealistic energy that was alive and kicking in Cubao X years ago, which I dare say was also momentarily revived by Punchdrunk Panda’s Anteroom Sessions 2, an event/project I’m proud to have seen through to fruition earlier this year.
I really love such efforts towards making creativity and community thrive. And while Anteroom may not seem as big an effort at promoting the arts as Bloom, I’d like to think of all such endeavors as a collective movement. :)
Having said that, I also jumped on this chance to finally show some of my paintings to the public. I’ve been dabbling with watercolor painting on and off for some two years now. And I while feel small exhibiting next to some really talented and successful contemporaries, I also feel a triumph at finally just putting it out there.
So here are the pieces I submitted for possible display:
Hariharalaya Retreat Centre - Siem Reap, Cambodia
Though words, pictures or videos cannot describe how at home, and at peace I found myself at Hariharalaya where I spent most of my first two weeks of travel, I try to capture a bit of that in this inspired video. And I can only hope that when I do visit them again (as I’m sure I will be back), that I will feel just as at home then. :)
View my blog post on Hariharalaya here.
Love and cosmic connections,
Jen

Created a quick, rough and dirty visual for Punchdrunk Panda’s newsletter this week. :)
Being a sucker for travel and vintage stuff, it was only natural that I choose to use a vintage suitcase with stickers to announce PdP’s Midsummer Markdown Madness.
Been wanting to make something with those elements, and now, I finally had a reason to! I’m considering adopting some of the elements for my blog. When I free up my workload or stop procrastinating. Harhar.
Back to work,
Jen

Vincent Moon - On Creating Art
02.25.12 Conversations on the road with Vincent Moon.
Was in the car with Karlo, Bert & Bea on our way to Zambales from Manila. :)
Shot with my LX5 and no extra audio recording equipment (obviously). Haha.
Here, he talks about art consumption and creation in the age of the internet, easy-to-use gadgets and applications.
I’ll be uploading more snippets of our conversations in the coming days/weeks. :D
View my other Vincent Moon videos (or other videos in general) here.

Here I asked how he got into film, and the Take Away Shows in particular, because that’s where he began to get a lot of recognition too.
I’ll be uploading more snippets of our conversations in the coming days/weeks. :D
In the meantime, you can watch some of my other videos here.
Or you can also see what Vincent Moon had to say On Audio Recording for Film.

I was just curious about how he was able to shoot the audio for his Take Away Show videos with such clarity. So yeah, there.
I’ll be uploading more snippets of our conversations in the coming days/weeks. :D

Apart from paintings, BLOOM will showcase art in many other forms or media, like photography, film, and music, reminding me again of the inspiring electric vibe of creativity (or in layman’s terms, my “kilig”) during Anteroom Sessions 2.
See the long list of featured artists at the BLOOM events page, and invite more friends to come and join in this effort to promote art and artists, and to further foster the creative spirit in Cubao X. :)
